Search Engine Optimisation, better known as SEO is the set of activities which help webpage to be found in search engines for phrases and particular words (known as keywords), relevant to what the website or the webpage is about.

SEO is the process of creating a structure, data technology, and content for the web page that is supported and positively evaluated by search engine robots. This results in assigning such a web page high rating for specific words, known as keywords or keyword phrases.

In brief, the successful Search Engine Optimization and Search marketing (SEO and SEM) help web page reach and hold high positions on relevant keywords or keyword phrases in Google organic results.

The aim is to increase the performance and relevance of the site and its pages to specific keywords and as a result, the entire site to become more competitive in the SERP. Hence if not all, at least some part of the optimization of a website for search engines can be done by people who have some basic understanding of what is the primary purpose of SEO.
